“When Konrad Dworakowski was working on <<Microcosm>> based on <<Thumbelina>> by Hans Christian Andersen,
he decided to break with the trend of adding colour to grim stories. The protagonist of the Pantomime Theatre from
Wrocław (interpreted by Monika Rostecka-Komorowska) is far from being a meek and week little girl. Quite the contrary
— wearing wide, short trousers and a ragged shirt, she makes an impression of being a little savage that wants to
subordinate to herself all insects she meets on her way. Thumbelina makes practical jokes, peeks around every corner,
regularly gets into trouble, but her shrewdness always helps her get out of them unscathed. Unlike Andersen’s
protagonist, she is not a passive being, dependent on whims of stronger and greater than her toads, mice, moles or swallows.
The performance includes several pantomime pieces, linked by the protagonist”.
