SYNOPSIS

The Three Musketeers is a classic. It’s a story about the friendship of four sword masters that offers everything that is desired by the audience: adventures, duels, passion, unexpected twists, courtship and betrayals tinged with eroticism.

The Montownia team offers a new interpretation of the bestseller by Alexandre Duma. A complicated, but extremely precise and frantic intrigue and the atmosphere of the 18th century France, the actors changing their roles all the time, and only one element – a multifunctional wardrobe. All this is an excuse for theatrical play, a sort of play with stereotypes and pop-culture imagination about the story we all know perfectly. ”Montownia” filters them through its characteristic style, sensitivity, and humor.

The Three Musketeers is also a splendid artistic showmanship based on gestures, imagination, and exhibition of an exaggerated physicality of subsequent characters. Even though five actors impersonate twice as many figures, they do not make mistakes. And how could we forget about the daring roles of De Gaulle’s dog and Richelieu’s cat... It’s a must see!

The Montownia Theater is one of the first independent theatrical groups in Poland. The group was established in 1996 by three graduates of the then State Institute of Theatrical Arts (PWST) in Warsaw: Adam Krawczuk, Rafał Rutkowski, and Maciej Wierzbicki. Marcin Perchuć, also a PWST graduate, joined them some time later.

Critics unanimously state that the Montownia Theater is one of the major groups which emerged on the Polish theatre market. It consistently defines their own theatrical model, i.e. an independent theatre that is free from bureaucracy and remains open-minded about uncommon ideas. Moreover, the group is ready to support other artists.

”Łaźnia Nowa” is a theatre in Cracow and a modern institution functioning as part of artistic exchange with European partners, co-productions, original projects, and co-operation with the residents of the district. The Łaźnia Nowa Theatre earned a good reputation on the Polish theater market, creating, among others, the International Theater Festival Divide Comedy; the plays of the theatre have received many awards and are performed at a number of festivals (among others: “ Enter the Dragon. Trailer”, “In the Name of Jakub S.”)
