SYNOPSIS

In 1992, a box full of plastic ducks fell out of a ship that was transporting them. 30 thousand plastic toys landed in the Pacific; led by sea currents they began their journey through seas and oceans to reach Canada, the United States, South America, Australia and Europe. For the director and a group of actors and creators cooperating with him this story is a pretext for a conversation on mass migration and the functioning of man in an increasingly polluted ecosystem.

Using VR technology which allows to directly access the experience of ‘another’, the artists ask questions about our identity and empathy and continue exploring the ideas of Jerzy Grotowski, which began with Krzysztof Garbaczewski’s earlier plays. At the same time, they portray the challenges that technology poses to performative arts, the way its development will change the perception of art and performance, whether it really alienates the individual or whether it can become an instrument of creating a new community. Does virtual reality separate us from the real world or does it allow us to experience it more deeply and consciously?

Dream Adoption Society is an artistic collective founded by Krzysztof Garbaczewski, focused on creating virtual and expanded reality in theatre, performance and modern art. More information can be found at:  www.dreamadoptionsociety.com.

Performance is organized in range of the international project Atlas of Transitions. New geographies for a cross-cultural Europe.
