(The Police)

Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, written in 1948, is one of the most famous books of the 20th century.

Orwell described a society subjected to control and invigilation, where the citizens' each step is followed by Big Brother. It is an analysis of totalitarianism, mechanisms of oppression and its rooting in human nature.

Today 1984 is in the past, but we discover with horror the convergence of social systems with structures of total control, which rather than external to us, incorporates us as active elements powering the whole with the energy of comfort and the pursuit of pleasure.

What is unchanging and fascinating (in 1948, in 1984, 2018 and 2081) is something about human beings, in our heads, in our everyday behavior, inciting us to love power and desire that which rules and controls us.
